Milk Packaging Choices

Glass Bottle milk deliveries or Poly milk bottles – that is the question! It’s certainly the question asked the most.

Which is better for the environment? Well they both have pro’s and con’s so it is be no means a clear argument which you should buy. Whilst glass bottles for example are used many times they still use energy to wash and return to the dairy and the delivery capacity of the vehicles is reduced due to the shear weight of glass, increasing the carbon footprint.

Poly bottles are fully recyclable and lighter so, depending on your view on plastic may even work out better for the environment. Especially if they are recycled.

Of course, to complicate matters further it is worth considering a chilled milk dispenser. These contain re-fills with 24 pints / 13.1 ltrs in each therefore they require fewer deliveries and reduce the effort managing milk bottles in the office significantly. Perfect for the larger office.
